6 Easy Ways to Avoid the “What’s BHEC?” Question
What's BHEC? Yes, we're still getting inquiries from fully licensed counselors asking, "What's BHEC?". A working knowledge of what BHEC is and how it affects your everything is not a life-threatening issue but it will be life-altering if you don't get familiar with it sooner than later.
Here's 3 reasons why.
BHEC Oversees Your Board Now
BHEC is now in charge of handling all administrative duties formerly handled by your Board. Gone are the days when you could place a call or email to your favorite Board member and expect a favor.
BHEC Owns Your License
The license renewal process is now owned by BHEC. Are you familiar with the new process? Know the proper email addys to use and which ones to avoid? Are you familiar with the new fingerprint requirements for license renewal? Getting familiar with the renewal process before you need it will make your life much smoother at renewal time.
Got a Complaint? Here Comes BHEC!
Complaint processing is an administrative task and as such is now handled by BHEC. No more Board member involvement in your latest complaint. There's also a new set of punitive guidelines in place called the Penalty Matrix. Get familiar with it. There's something about knowing what the possible outcomes are that makes dealing with a complaint a lot less stressful.
Here's 3 Easy Ways to Get in the BHEC Loop
BHEC and Board Meetings
There are regularly broadcast BHEC and Board meetings via ZOOM. Phillip publishes the next BHEC and Board meetings in every one of our Friday enewsletters. There's no good reason not to keep yourself in the loop about what's going on with the agency that owns your license! Stay in the loop, stay out of trouble.
What's BHEC? CE Training
We even have a 1-hour course that dives much deeper into this topic (see right-sidebar) and we have BHEC website tutorial videos on the PracticeMentors.us website. We include dives into, "What's BHEC?", in all of our workshops and we take the really deep-dive in, "The Counseling Landscape, Part 1" workshop, fyi. We've done everything for you but click the buttons!
Get on the BHEC Email List
If you'll get on the BHEC email list (click & scroll to the bottom) then all you have to do is scan it once a month and you won't be caught by surprise. Even better, you won't be known as, "that guy", asking, "What's BHEC?".
Dig the Well Before You Need the Water
That's just good, proactive advice and I'll bet you give it to your clients, too, like I do. Might be a good idea that we all take our own advice and spend some time getting familiar with BHEC before we need them for something. You can do this.
Plan Smart. Be Safe. Serve Others.
